The Perigord Chestnut

The Perigord Chestnut

Famous for being served with turkey on Christmas or New Year’s Eve, chestnuts are a perfect match for all gourmet dishes and can be served at any table, in any season. Recently certified with a quality label and always full of nutritional qualities in keeping with the times, the Périgord chestnut has it all. With a Label Rouge and pending PGI label, the Périgord chestnut now has a whole host of distinctions that recognise its qualities.

Chestnut brown…

Today, Label Rouge guarantees irreproachable fruit: fresh, shiny, of good size (over 31 mm), uniform and above all of perfect sanitary quality (less than 6% worm chestnuts). Only the Marigoule, Bouche de Bétizac and Bournette varieties are authorised. These varieties are particularly sweet, very easy to peel and have no segments.
Eating well and simply is the ultimate Périgord Attitude!

Healthy and nutritious/b>

Under its rough bark, the chestnut hides meltingly soft flesh full of energy. Rich in minerals, generous in potassium, the chestnut is a champion of nutritious eating and is ideal for athletes. With its high magnesium content, it can also become a real ally when fighting stress and fatigue. It provides significant amounts of calcium and iron, as well as many trace elements.

And to keep you going on the Périgord roads, there’s nothing better than a good dose of vitamin C – it has up to 50 mg per 100 g – as well as a high fibre content to avoid cravings and tiredness!

The big chestnut tree circuit

The Périgord Attitude is also about a spirit of adventure and discovery, exploring off the beaten track. The chestnut trees will show you the way and their farmers will welcome you warmly!
